The learning needs of students vary. Individual Learning Plans (One Plans) are developed for all students who are ATSI, Student in Care or have a verified disability in line with DfE Policy. One Plans are based on the individuals development needs as a learner and aligned to the Australian Curriculum. They include goal setting, adjustments/accommodations and document progress to monitor and promote positive outcomes.

Reading intervention programs that are implemented at Hewett PS to support the explicit teaching of reading skills in classrooms. These include MiniLit (Year 1), MultiLit and MaqLit (Year 3), all of which evidence based small group reading intervention programs developed by Macquarie University. Students involved in these interventions are identified through each programs diagnostic tools.
